Black and White Paper Fan Wreath

I ran across a fun paper fan wreath last week on Inspiring Creations and thought I totally have to make it! So I did. This project only took me a couple of evenings to create but could of been done easily in one sitting. I followed all the instructions on Inspiring Creations (click here) but switched them up just a bit to use mainly Stampin' Up! products.

I went ahead and used SU!'s new Newsprint 12x12 designer paper. Love that paper and I only needed 3 1/2 sheets for this project. Do you recognize the bird? Think for a second, all I did was cover him with some Basic Black paper...... Remember the Chipboard bird albums that SU! sold last spring? Yep, that is so him! The best thing is that there are some on the Clearance Rack right now. To find the Clearance Rack head over here to my website, click shop now, and then clearance rack!
I hung the wreath on the door in my mudroom that heads into my house. I really like how it turned out and so easy to make, plus I only burned myself once on the glue gun! :)
Here is a "real life" shot. I did do a "little" editing and cropped out the pile of shoes and boots, why oh why is there a pair of boots out already?
Up close of some of the fan flowers. LOVE that paper!
Here are the items that I used for this project:
3 1/2 12x12 sheets of Newsprint Designer Series Paper (SU!)
2 81/2 x 11 sheets of Basic Black Card Stock (SU!)
One Chipboard Bird (SU!)
Black Buttons from my craft stash
Hot Glue Gun & Lots of Glue
1 Wire Hanger or 2 if your dry cleaner gives you those wire/cardboard kind.

That's it! Enjoy!

Top Secret: Basement Sneak Peak

I have been working on this project since May, not all the time & rather slowly but it is finially coming together. While my hubby was away riding his motorcycle in Tenn with the Military Sportbike riders, I was busy at work. He fully knows that if he leaves me for a week I WILL paint something. It's destined to happen. One year, I totally redid a dining area in our old house. Another, I started a bathroom remodel (in the old house) with slate flooring. The the first year in our new house I took 2 days off work to powerwash and paint our swimming pool. So, this year I started this project. I am working on a basement re-do. It was time to make this area my own, since we have lived here for 3 years.
Here is a sneak peek of my classroom area. I used a decor element in a frame totally inspired by SU! and the old Decor Element catalog. Then a stencil for the opposite wall. You can even see a glimpse of some of my displays out.
More details to come when it's all finished. Right now I'm undertaking making a roman shade, I should add I don't really sew, at least not the correct way......
