Sunday Technique: Faux Linen

Here is this weeks technique. Sorry it's later in the day but I've been busy getting ready for CONVENTION!!!!
The pictures don't really do it justice but I will explain the steps to you, it's easy and adds a new look to your cards.  Think linen pants meet stamping.

Faux Linen
1. Using white glossy cardstock take your sanding block and lightly sand off the "finish" both vertically and horizontally.  You should be able to see your sanded lines with gloss in between.
2. Using a stampin' sponge pick up a lighter color of ink and dab all over the white cardstock.
3. Sand lightly again.
4. Stamp your main images in the colors of your choice and let dry for a few minutes.
5. Complete your card.

On this card I used:
Autumn Days Stamp Set $23.95
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set $36.95 (but I got it for FREE, Thanks SU!, I love it!)
So Saffron Ink (background color)
Crushed Curry Ink and Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon (turned over so the dots didn't show)
Dusty Durango Ink and Card Stock
Soft Suede Ink and Card Stock
White Glossy Card Stock
Silver Brads
Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper
See I told you it was an easy technique!
Happy Stamping.

Look What I Got Today

So I went out to my mail box and this is what was in it!
Two of the Monthly Best of the Best Swap Cards.  This month's theme is Movin' and Grovin', all the cards had to have some type of movement to them.

Plus, I did some shopping today.  I needed new sandals for convention, comfy ones, because my favorites bit the dust last week.  Look what I found though!!!!  A PINK suitcase!  I have a love for luggage, it's a real problem for me, and my husband thinks I'm crazy.  I saw this and it called my name (I really have been looking for a pink suitcase for years). Zoë approved so I snatched it up!  I did find the sandals I was looking for too!
Here's a pic of Zoë for good measure!  15 months old and already a great shopper, a little to young to stamp yet though.

Sunday Technique: Thumping

Check back every Sunday (I hope) for a new technique.  This week's technique is "Thumping" while it is not a new technique it is one that I forgot about and rediscovered.  Super easy to do and you'll get great results!
This 6x6 page was made for a convention technique swap but here are the instructions in case you can't read the fine print, don't worry if you can't its really really small!

Thumping

1. Ink stamp with an ink pad.

2. Take a darker colored marker and start tapping or "thumping" on the image to add darker spots.Tap with the side of the marker to protect the tip of the marker from damage.

3. Continue to "thump" the marker on the image until you added enough spots to create a marbled look.

4. Huff (breathe heavily) on the stamp to re-moisten the inked image. Now stamp on the cardstock.

I inked up my stamp in Pretty In Pink, then used the Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write markers to "thump".

Stamp Set: Razzle Dazzle

Ink: Pretty In Pink

Paper: Melon Mambo Card Stock, Rich Razzleberry Card Stock, Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper

Accessories: InColor Stampin' Write Markers, Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch.

Roving Classes ** Something NEW!

Ok, I am so tired of the old school SU! workshop.  Don't get me wrong if that is the "style" you would like for your workshop I will gladly do it, but I am ready for a CHANGE!
Each month I will focus on a new project.  Think SU! class in your home (if you don't have the room in your home we can hold the class at my home).  Instead you you having to come over to my house for a class, I will come to you!  All you have to do is provide the space, maybe a snack and drink, if you want to or not.
The classes will take about 1 1/2 hours, we will start on time and finger cross end on time!
Questions that you might have:
What do I need to have for the class?  Nothing else besides space I will bring all supplies.
Will it cost me to hold a roving class?  Nope!!!  For now I will be providing these classes for free to my customers and hostesses.
How many people do I have to have at my class?  The more the merrier!  Ideally at least 3 people and lets say not more than 12, unless you have a really big room!  :) Everyone will need amble space and a seat, so you decide how many you can fit.
Can I still order from the catalog at a class?  OF COURSE and the best part is if its at your house (or your the hostess) you will get all the hostess benefits just like an old-school workshop.
When will I know what the project will be?  You will know when you "book" your class.  If there is a special theme let me know and we can see what I can do.
Contact me to pick YOUR date and time!  :)
Happy Stamping!

Manhattan Vinyl Bags

Check out these (I think) super cute vinyl bags that I made for the altered item swap at SU! convention.  I made these using all SU! items except for the clear vinyl (the tablecloth kind) that I purchased from "the outlet".
Want to learn how to make them?  Great!  I can teach you how right in your own home with some of your friends.  This will be the project of the month for my roving classes.  I have a few more slots open from Aug 15-30.  Contact me for more details!
